Azul Ehrenberg

Azul Ehrenberg

When seeing Azul's work for the first time, it was as if lightning had struck. The images were so striking that one might initially wonder if they were paintings or photographs, all skillfully created on handmade paper. With their toned-down colors and vague subjects reminiscent of the past, the work became even more intriguing. Azul personally handcrafts the paper, which is an art form in itself, and then transfers/prints her images onto it, resulting in unique works of art that reflect her Dutch and Mexican heritage. Selecting just three works to post on our platform was challenging, as all of them are incredibly beautiful and captivating. Artists' statement
Azul Ehrenberg (Mexico / Netherlands, 1997) is an interdisciplinary artist based in between Amsterdam and Mexico. In her work she dominantly uses a combination of photography, handmade paper and moving image. As past and present narrations are an integral part of life, she explores the impact they can have on our perception by adding, editing and arranging existing content - often from personal archives - in order to create a new context and / or form. Her work touches upon topics such as tradition, identity, heritage and memory. It is her way to remember what otherwise perishes in forgetfulness.
